Every once in a while, life throws you an unexpected curve. Tragedy morphs into opportunity, new doors open, and seeds begin to grow.
This experience happened to me last year, when an inheritance from my mother became a chance to give back to the university that prepared me for my career. With some of the money our mother left us, my sister Dina and I pooled our resources to create an endowment scholarship at the University of California, Davis, that will go on, dare we say—forever–in the name of our parents.
And in giving back, we have touched the life of a UC Davis student, and have begun to create a legacy.
