Backyard Bonanza

Like many baby boomers and older adults, I love fresh produce!  I know it’s part of a healthy diet, one pillar of my plan for wellness and longevity.  Unfortunately though, I don’t have a green thumb.

That’s why I was so excited when I heard about vertical aeroponic gardening.  This system, developed by Tim Blank at Disney Epcot Center, uses a state-of-the-art, food-grade plastic tower to grow fruits and vegetables with only 10% of the water needed for a traditional garden.  And it requires only 4 square feet of space.  This system works on a deck, patio, or balcony; you can even grow healthy gardens inside with lights.  In adtition, there is no soil, and less need for insecticides, pesticides, and herbicides.  You can harvest more than 100 types of fruits and vegetables much more quickly than in the ground.

Here’s my backyard vertical aeroponic growing system!  I’ve enjoyed my Tower Garden for more than a year now.
