What If Just 3 Goals Made a Difference?

Do you find that the “one size fits all” information from diet books just doesn’t provide the nutrition guidance you need to make lasting lifestyle changes? Is the advice too generalized and vague? Looking for a personalized nutrition approach?

In a study recently published in the International Journal of Epidemiology, researchers found that people who received individualized nutrition advice became motivated to make healthier eating habits. The study design included just three food goals that gave specific advice and relevant support.

At the end of six months, participants showed significantly improved eating habits over the control group. An example of personal nutrition advice might include: choose whole-grain versions of breads and breakfast cereal to increase dietary fiber intake. Just simple enough to be achievable, but important enough to make a big difference!

Can you think of some specific areas in your diet where you can make small, workable tweaks? Maybe you could replace water for one bottle of soda per day to decrease calories coming from sugar, or consume more protein at breakfast to help control sweet cravings at night.
